Don't give into the hype!
If you have a engine that gives you years of service, runs when it is time to go flying, and gives enough power to do so and a little extra, then that is a keeper for me!! I know that on days that one of my glow engines was having problems I was at the point of donating my left kidney for a motor that would run at that moment... Like most of us we have little time to fly because of our busy life styles, and when it is time to fly it should just work.... Power means crap w/o reliability.... Not saying DA isn't reliable but it sounds like the 45 evolution has given you good service and no trouble and flys light..... Who knows, you could sell that engine and get another of your choice and it may be a lemon dog!!
Reliability is really what makes a engine a winner to Me![/D]
I think there are tons of planes in this weight class!!
(I guess I answered my own question about limitations of this engine)
Has this engine been reliable?

I'm thinking the best engine is the DA50R or maybe a Taurus 52. The DA is the same price as the EVO. I wouldn't by the EVO again, at least not for the same price. If it was $100 cheaper, I'd buy it and fly it in the lighter planes. But, for the same money, I'm gonna buy the DA. Then you don't limit your options.
Yes, it is a magnesium case. It's a beautiful engine and it runs good. Just not as good as the DA.
Thanks
