What do you mean by a "very slight noise"?

There a few things which could be wrong....

Flooded engine - remove the glow plug and try turning over the engine. Obviously it won't start, but if it turns over then you know that the engine had flooded and locked up.
Damaged starter - Broken gears, rounded starter shafts etc. Check over the starter. It'll only take 5 mins and that'll eliminate another possibility.
Damaged engine - how did you break it in? If it's damaged in some way it might not turn over. By forcing it you're probably doing even more damage. Strip the engine down and check it!
