They are just not very good planes. If you can put up with countless piddly troubles, reglue everything before the first flight, and don't get put off by the shelf paper covering, go for it. They usually do fly nicely. Until the firewall comes out. Or the gear breaks out. These problems should be covered by your reglue job, though.
