hadn't thought of that.... the optical is on its own channel so I can just program that one with a fail safe of off....

But do you actually want your engine to stop if you have a temporary glitch?
I have experienced short time glitches (on smaller models) where I subsequently regained control of the model. If the engine stops, that may cause new problems.
I think I would want the engine to go to idle in fail safe, but not actually stop.
