I have also built the control rod stock on my EDGE540 EP, I must say that it was better than I thought. Been in contact with other EDGE owners, and it seems most are ok with this solution.

I have not yet maiden my plane however, too cold in the north.

No seen many having the EP version, it seems that people in general are regarding the plane to be too heavy.
