Default RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!

HI BZGuy:

Just finished my Yak and went with your recommendation on the motor---Hacker A30-22s. I put on the 11x7E prop and have an X-30 controller. I use a TP 2100 3-cell powerlight or super light or whatver they call it---it's a 50A max burst discharge rate in any case.

Two quick q's:

Did you say you ran the above equipment? Can you tell me your amp draw? I pulled the throttle back when it hit 45 amps so I wouldn't blow anything up. The X-30 is limited to 30 amps, I believe, and the motor to 28 or 30.

The X-30 has a default cutoff voltage for 3-cell lipos of 8.3 volts---that's considerably less than the 9 volts that TP says is the min voltage under a load. I called Hacker and they said the controller is set at that because at 9 volts you can get nuisance cutoffs when you don't really need to stop flying.

Do you have an opinion? I bought a couple of other E-props to try (all are APC)---10x7 and 11x5.5 .

Thanks for your thoughts.

Andrew
