RE: Seaplane Kit
My Wife bought me the Sig Sealane kit for my birthday last year and just managed to get it finished before our holidays at the lake last summer.
I powered it with the OS 52 FS driving a 10 x7 APC prop. The power is more than adequate and takeoffs are no problem. Just keep the wings level
with the aelerons and let it gain speed. The plane does spray a lot of water initially on the takeoff run so waterproofing with a silicone gasket around the wing
especially at the forward top of the wing. The plane will rise off the water almost on its own with just a wee bit of elevator. It is not a pattern ship by any means but will loops, rolls
Immelmans, cuban eights and most of the basic maneuvers quite well. Landings are uneventful, just let it slow down over the water and it will practically land itself. All in all,
except for a lot of spray initially on takeoff, I have no complaints. Maybe I will install some spray rails at the front of the bottom to cut down on the spraying.
