You *CAN* use an FM receiver in a heli; I know many who do and I used to use them while I was learning.

There are many benefits to PCM, but if this is more of an FM or no flying issue, an FM Rx will do the job.

As everything, PCM has its issues also (mainly signal blocking in unwanted situations)

The only reason I fly PCM is because of Fail Safe.
