I just bought one of these things recently, and I was a little concerned about mounting it inside the fiberglass, painted fuselage.
Todd, I noticed yours was pointing up into the free stream, but are there any known problems with reception at long range inside the fuselage? I've run these in heli's before without problems, but I fly heli's pretty close --- as compared to the long sweeping pattern of jets.
I have also heard that the receiver should be re-tuned after installing. True? Waste of money?
Not that I have experienced! My antenna sits right inside the canopy on the roo. I originally had the wire running through a antenna tube sticking out of the fuselage just in front of the canopy. I had great range but hated the way the plane looked with the antenna on the outside. I installed the revolution and got an extra 20ft of range from all angles. I have approx 170 flights on the plane with this configuration and the Jetcat ECU has never recorded a failsafe hit. Since this roo is powered by a P-120, I do get quite far out with it.
Retuned? Probably not a bad idea but I never did mine........
