Default 'Revolution' whip antenna question

I was wondering if anyone has experience specifically with the 'Revolution' brand of whip antenna mounted to a jet model.
There is much whip antenna info when I do the advanced search, but mainly from the heli flyers and little mention of the 'Revolution' antenna used on a jet model. My obvious concerns regarding install on a jet v heli is range and possible interference.
I would like to hear from anyone who has successfully used the Revolution whip, as I want to install this antenna on my ROO....

Cheers-

Default 'Revolution' whip antenna question

Marty,
Been using the Revolution in my Roo for over a year now, I get better range than with the stock wire and not one hiccup since it has been installed. I have approx 170 flights now with the Revo.....I would use this antenna over any other whip! If the Heli guys can vibrate the hell out of them with no issues than they will never be a problem in a jet

I have used the revolution also for 6mo in the jet with not one hit according to the Jetcat ECU. and been using them in heli's and other planes for years with no problems.

Default Whip

Todd/John I was wondering about electronic noise/interference possibility??? specifically from fuel pump, do you use ferret rings or any other electronic noise suppression device?

Has anyone ever experienced range degradation with whips in general?

Is there any particular mounting location/angle that is proven to be better/best? or for range eg vertical external as opposed to internal horizontally mounted??

I found that mounting mine at a 45 degree pointing forward worked best in my jet.

I ran everthing the way it came from Jetcat. Its a 4.0 P80.

Ill try to find a pic of my setup too.

I just bought one of these things recently, and I was a little concerned about mounting it inside the fiberglass, painted fuselage.
Todd, I noticed yours was pointing up into the free stream, but are there any known problems with reception at long range inside the fuselage? I've run these in heli's before without problems, but I fly heli's pretty close --- as compared to the long sweeping pattern of jets.
I have also heard that the receiver should be re-tuned after installing. True? Waste of money?

I never retuned mine.

I also mounted it into a fiberglass painted fuse with turbine ECU and pumps and solenoids with in 6-8" with no problems, a good range check will tell you.

Not that I have experienced! My antenna sits right inside the canopy on the roo. I originally had the wire running through a antenna tube sticking out of the fuselage just in front of the canopy. I had great range but hated the way the plane looked with the antenna on the outside. I installed the revolution and got an extra 20ft of range from all angles. I have approx 170 flights on the plane with this configuration and the Jetcat ECU has never recorded a failsafe hit. Since this roo is powered by a P-120, I do get quite far out with it.
Retuned? Probably not a bad idea but I never did mine........

Todd
