Default Capiche 50

Went flying yesterday with one of the Capiche's.

This is the one with the Magnum 61 RFS onboard, weighing in at 4lb 12oz.

I was wondering about adequate power on this motor, but instead I did a bit of prop selection testing instead. Ended up wuth a 13x6 on it. I would have expected this to be too big but it seems very happy and the whole thing pulls well now.

I set up reduced throws and adjusted expo accordingly and without moving the cg forward, which ultimately it would benefit from for sport aerobatic, just could not be bothered - i prefer it a bit back, and flew some pattern stuff.

Havent done it for along while so a bit rusty but after 5 mins or so I was getting back in the groove. It really does fly well as a mini pattern plane, and the rudder response is so pure that you can afford to make mistakes and then bang it back in the correct direction.

With this motor set up its just enough to pull it up vertical lines. For 3D aerobatics I prefer a bit more umph, but I will leave it as it is for now, cos its a real pleasure to fly.

I did MY FIRST PROPER LANDING yesterday too. Up to now they have all been harriers down on to the runway (Only flown it about 6 times). Wind was cross a bit, but I wanted to see how she behaved and went for the cross wnid runway. She crabbed in pointing into wind but with a flight path as required. 10" or so above the tarmac, bit of rudder, and she plopped onto the runway for a perfect 3 pointer. Held the rudder on a bit to taxi down to my end of the strip and she drove well too (steerable tail wheel).

This was the fastest landing Ive done with a Capiche and it was not fast really.

The more I fly it the more I like it.

Stevie Munns was flying Malcs Prototype Capiche yesterday too. Thats got a West 36 and Capiche Pipe on board. He really loves flying it, and is getting into the harriers too - did two touch downs yesterday. I rarely see steve do knife edge, but bugger me, there he was back and forth, along with all the tumbles and everything. It was quite cool actually.
