I'd bet you have a servo with stripped gears.

With the motor unplugged, move the throttle up and down full swing slowly about 10 times. Did the swashplate stay level each time? Now put a bit of stress on the head and do it again. Did the swashplate stay level? If the answer is no, then you probably have stripped a gear.
