One thing to consider. I did it, and I'm convinced that my fuse survived that first crash because of it:

Balsa triangle stock reinforcing on the former bottoms and sides, both sides, or whatever you have room for. I used 1/4 inch most places, but 1/2 inch where I could fit it in.
