Start up by centering up all of your trim, sub-trim and stuff like that. Set any dual rate,expo to off. Set EPA at 100% at both ends. Then set linkages up mechanically as close to correct before dabbling in the electronic tweaking.

In other words - turn off the whistles and bells and go back to basics first.
