Default Centering a Servo AND TX controls

Can someone outline the method to center servo's and TX controls without resetting the computer for that model?

One of the guys at the club showed me how to do it with my Airtronics RD8000 last year.

What was happening was I was unable to get the proper throttle throw (did not know of a better way of putting it). I can't recall if I used an old model assignment and just reused the channel info for the new model (yeah, I crashed the old one and there was not much left to salvage.. picture a hard boiled egg after dropping it from five feet up.. that shell is what the inside of my fuselage looked like), let alone the right wing that was totally destroyed).

The servo only moved from the 90ยบ to about 10ยบ and back if viewing it from the rear. He had me do several things with end points and so on, but I cannot remember what that was. That represents the whole throw from the TX stick. So, the servo arm only moved about 80ยบ rather than the expected ~ 170ยบ.

If anyone knows that procedure, please let me know what that is.

Thanks.

DS.

Are you saying that you do NOT want to return to the factory defaults for ALL of the controls of a certain "model" memory?

What radio? The Airtronics?

Well, Bruce, all else is fine. Just the throttle is set up wrong and I don't get 100% available servo throw, only that 80ยบ or so. That reduces resolution, right? I move the stick all the way from total idle to full, "wide open" and the servo only moves that 80ยบ rather than what I expected the servo to move. As I said, it's only in the throttle. So, the throttle resolution sucks. I want to get as much out of that throttle servo as I can (approaching 100% of available movement) then use mechanical length to adjust throw and keep that resolution.

I hope that explains what I have and what I want. And, yes, the Airtronics RD8000.

Start up by centering up all of your trim, sub-trim and stuff like that. Set any dual rate, expo to off. Set EPA at 100% at both ends. Then set linkages up mechanically as close to correct before dabbling in the electronic tweaking.

In other words - turn off the whistles and bells and go back to basics first.
