Default RE: Long or Short flybars?

A longer, and heavier flybar will improve flight characteristics on a Collective Pitch (CP) style heli because the pilot actually controls the flybar and the flybar controls the rotor.
wouldn't a lighter flybar increase responsiveness though? i have a trex flybar on mine and it's definitely heavier, so it's more stable, however, because it's longer, i don't think i've lost any cyclic if not gained the rate.
