Applying the brakes should not stall the engine. Idle adjustment is not made by linkage. There is an idle screw on the carburator. Turn the screw clockwise untill idle is set. Do these adjustments after the engine has warmed up. If you have trouble keeping the engine running while it is cold, use the throttle trim on the radio to increase the idle. Once it has warmed up the trim should be set back to mid pos. You should have approx. 1mm gap (opening) of the slide in the carburator at idle.
