Actually you can get the best of both worlds if you drill out the half moon cutouts and make them round.

This lowers backpressure without reducing it as much as removing the baffle does.

Without the baffle pressure to the tank drops more.

The difference is noticible ( try it both ways and unplug the pressure line while the engine is running to see, at half throttle ), so this is well worth doing.
