Default P-80 flame on acceleration

I have a P-80 ser. #1082 with a 4.0 ECU. The engine has about 4.5 hours total time. The engine has a little flame for a couple of seconds on startup, but I am working on reducing that.

My question is when I accelerate the engine to a higher RPM while it is running, it will shoot a small flame for a second or two, then will stabilize. It only does this if the trottle stick is moved quickly, everything is normal if the stick is moved slower, like 4 secs from idle to full throttle. Is there a way to adjust the spool up time or to fix this?

PS, this engine was a sea level engine, it is now at 6000+ ft, I don't know if this would have any effect.

Thanks,
NJD
