What did you use for a firewall, plywood? Was the firewall glued inside of laid up glass? How thick was it? I finished the molds for my 25% Edge 540 and laid up the first parts today. I did add a second layer of 6 oz. cloth around the firewall area but I am unsure of the ply thickness. I know some pattern guys that fly 1.20’s with only 1/8” lite ply behind the glass firewall. That does not sound strong enough, yet I don’t want a sled.

I was very happy with the first hatch that I made because I made a loose piece on the mold so I could build a 90 degree 1/2” return lip around all 4 sides. Tricky to lay up but worked great.
