This device has two purposes, one to switch on the receiver when a static line is pulled from the module and the other is a trace signal in the event the jumper lands in a "bad place" Turn off the TX (Sender) and the signal starts to beep.

The other option is a pin on the back pack which prevents opening the pack until a static line removes the pin. In this case, the RX can be lurned on when on the ground.
