as battery use a 2V dry cell, they last forever (when charged..).

as glow plug connection: it's depend your plane:
if the turbine is open, you can use a connector car style (plug), to install at the startup and remove when turbine running.

if the turbine is inside you can make your own wiring using a fixed connection to the plug, and the ground, black wire coming from the turbine.

you make a plug, and you can connect and disconnect the battery form the model

i use one industrial plug (4 way) and i connect the glow current and the starter with just one plug.
the glow battery has a switch, so i can connect the starter battery for the cool down without energizing the glowplug
