You said that your Li'l Dude works best in light wind conditions. How much does he weigh? My jumper Little Juan originally weighed around 1.5 pounds and like you I had a problem unless the winds were light. I have since increased his weight to 2.5 pounds and he handles the wind much better. Hope this helps out.
