I drive a Toyota Tacoma and needed a way to transport my planes as well. I picked up two adjustable, spring loaded shower curtain rods, and adjusted them to the bed of the truck. I place the main landing gear close to one rod and rest the tail of the plane on the other. I then just use bungee cords to strap the landing gear and tail to the rods. The rods are quickly removable, cheap, and can be adjusted for my longer fuselages or taller landing gear. Wings lay right next to the plane and can be secured to the rods as well!
