RE: E flite dimante 25 E
Hi,
I'm no engineer but I can't help but notice how strong and heavy are the landing gear brackets and how big the wheels are compared to such a small, weak plywood structure underneath.
At my opinion, unless you make a perfect landing on pavement, you will rip off the bottom.
In my case I removed all the bottom surface using my Dremel tool, cut a thick plywood piece and install plywood parts on all 4 sides of the piece for added strength. Used 30 min. epoxy all around. Of course I had to drill holes and reinstall the 4 blind nuts. Used same yellow covering that I had for my J3 Cub 25.
Pictures of the receiver setup and the new bottom. Inside the yellow circles you can see the side plywood pieces that also hold the bottom to the balsa structure on the side.
The result is rock solid. I don't expect any other trouble. Of course the weight has changed but hey! Now I can land on grass and rough terrain.
