I tried to maiden my flash last eve but on the takeoff run the right 6mm pin in the C-36 landing gear broke and I had to abort. No damage to the plane at all but I will be replacing all of the pins with better ones! My field is grass and a bit on the rough side due to spring thaw here on the east coast. The pins were the ones that came from C-arf with the retracts!!
will try again soon
When you filed the "flat" on the pins, did you cut a notch? If you did, you might have caused a stress point that led to the failure. Dave mentioned this before in this thread. You need to make the "flats" as shallow as possible and still have them do their job and taper them gradually out at the ends.
I have flown my Flash off a grass field several times and did not have any problems with the gear pins.
