I would definately start the engine several times and make sure its not "flaming" during startup. The fact that it does, if it does, is not an indication that it is bad, it may simply be that an ECU parameter or two is off.

I'm not sure that a new bypass is really necessary, but I would post a picture or two of the pipe and let those here that have had a pipe collapse give their opinion on whether or not its OK. The fact that it does have support at the front end, where its blue, may mean that's its OK, but I'm not an expert in that area.
