What he was trying to say is that just because you can use "standard" servos doesn't mean that's always a wise thing to do. Reviewers use what the manufacturers recommend, which is often at the low end of the desired range. Reviewers don't generally keep flying their review models on a regular basis, either.
What kind of flying do you want to do with it? The low-end digital servos have much better performance than the only slightly cheaper standard servos. Servo choice is a balance between what is needed, how much you have to spend, and--for most of us--what we happen to have on hand.
