help selecting servo size!

I am somewhat new to the hobby and trying to determine what servos to put in my newly built GP extra 300s 60 size. I put an os91fx on it if that changes things at all. Not sure about torque for different surfaces. Any help would be apprecited. thanks

Standard servos will work fine on your ship. If your heavy into 3D or just want to upgrade, Hitec 645 or digital equiv. 5645 would be a good choice. Hitec 425 standard ball bearing servos on 6V would work well.

a review where Futaba S3001 servos were used.
The manual doesn't list any special servos are needed so it's OK to assume that standards will be fine.
It wouldn't hurt to bump up the torque a little or use digitals or both.

Testing Testing....NOW HEAR THIS!! Would the person who asked about servos please just buy the recommended servos or better by spec. It is not necessary to use crummy standard junk servos for every plane that will accept them. PLEASE KNOW that there are many people who can actually tell the difference between servos in a given airframe without being told. IT IS ALSO ADVISED that your servos are perhaps the most important decision made in assemling a new airplane.

What he was trying to say is that just because you can use "standard" servos doesn't mean that's always a wise thing to do. Reviewers use what the manufacturers recommend, which is often at the low end of the desired range. Reviewers don't generally keep flying their review models on a regular basis, either.
What kind of flying do you want to do with it? The low-end digital servos have much better performance than the only slightly cheaper standard servos. Servo choice is a balance between what is needed, how much you have to spend, and--for most of us--what we happen to have on hand.

Funny. You asked, got GOOD information from people with more experience and then cried about the way in which it was presented. If you can't handle the responses you solicit in a PUBLIC forum, please don't bother to ask.
I regret wasting my time, trying to make the presentation of useful information a bit more entertaining than a list of specifications.
It's a fact in this hobby that even good, experienced flyers crash airplanes...how will you handle that? If you are this sensitive about a tounge-in-cheek response to a question YOU ASKED, then perhaps you would be better off in a spinning class or aerobics....something a bit less threatening.
Please add me, (and, by the standard your sensitivity dictates, ALL us who refuse to coddle and play nice), to your IGNORE list. Then perhaps your feelings will be better protected.

Agexpert, no offense to you but you were very short in your response. I need help more often than not, and a short smart alick answer like yours would aggravate me too. You might be an expert, but belittling someone by saying "MOVE ALONG" does not encourage anyone. This fellow wouldn't be asking questions if he didn't need help so lets play nice and represent what RC universe and our hobby is all about. I read these posts constantly, much more more than I post comments and sometimes advice is easily misunderstood.
That being said, I am no expert but like someone said above standard servos will be fine. If high torque servos were required, it would be stated in the manual. Servos can easily be upgraded later to suit your flying style if the standard servos do not suffice.
Again, no offense to anyone, just standing up for someone needing help...hence RC Universe!

If you would prefer to use standard servos in a 40% plane or a .40 size plane, by all means do so. I simply said get recommended or better, that's it. Sorry to be so 'offensive' or 'aggravating'. Are you offended or aggravated when you are warned to stay off thin ice? I would guess so.
This is a forum in which many people spend time sharing their experience with others. There are bound to be things said here that bug you. Get over it and learn something.
I would post specific directions on precisely how to add me to your ignore list, but I am unsure of my ability to do so without 'offending' or 'aggravating' you. So.... I can't be bothered. Have a nice life and please avoid seeking honest answers to your questions as it may 'aggravate' you.

In the review they did on that plane they used Futaba 3001 "standard" size servos.
A guy in our club flies a 1/4 scale Fly Baby with a gas engine and his "standard" size servos on it works fine! He's been flying for about 40 years so he should know what servos work and what ones don't.
I use futaba 3004 standard size on all my planes and they work fine!

By the way, we are all beginners at one time, and sometimes a simple explanation is all that is needed. Being short and smart with folks could be devastating to most "beginners". If we were talking about 40% sized planes then we wouldn't be in the beginners forum then would we? Also you have misquoted be by saying that I referred to your post as "offensive". That was not my point what so ever. I was merely saying maybe we should take more care in explaining things in the beginners forum. You can see that someone had to back up and explain your post to him. So its not just me, others giving advice also thought ut was a bit cofusing. You need to get over yourself, and realize that people need good understandable advice. No tears here, just sitting back hoping that I never reply using your method.
By the way, did I not say no offense to anyone? I was merely giving advice, not putting you down. So if my first post offended you, then maybe you are being "aggravted" as well.

Some lessons: If you are this easily rattled, perhaps you may find RC sailboats more enjoyable. Many people really love to have a relaxing time sailing and I have heard it's quite challenging.
Oh and yes, you were completely wrong in trying to suggest that I change the way in which I choose to help others on my own time. Your original assertion was correct. If you found any of the 'lingo' I used to be 'expert' in nature, perhaps you will find the glossary of terms available here on RCU very helpful.
