Yep. T-tail would do what you say. Just be careful not to let it get too heavy.
As far as linkage to the elevator: I always thought it was stoopid the way the seamaster nyrod is s-shaped. You can come up thru the fin and not have to recurve the nyrod. Every time you curve nyrod there is more friction and more slop. You just need a special control horn that goes forward instead of up. There is one in the hobby lobby catalog. It's the middle one in the pic. When I made a t-tail I fabbed my own control horn from 1/16 balsa.
