Default RE: Chip Hyde's Cap-X - Building & Flying

Flew mine for the first time today:
I must say it was almost worth the hassle of dealing with chief and redoing the firewall to get this plane. An incredible design.

I wouldn’t recommend using the CA hinges. I ripped two of the aileron hinges today in a wall. This thing performs incredibly through post stall maneuvers (parachutes, harriers, walls). Walls like you just know the wing is going to break.

Does get a little touchy in pitch through stall you really have to fight the tendency to start a P.I.O.. Only had one wicked snap, and that was while holding full high rate elevator when I added both aileron and rudder at the same time, I got a little more response than I was looking for. I easily powered out of the situation with the DL-50.

DL-50 on this plane is amazing. You truly hover at 1/4 throttle. I have quite a bit of differential in my ailerons and it seems to roll very well, even with two broken hinges. I just can’t get over how well this thing harriers. Hopefully I can finish my homework early tomorrow so I can go play, but this time with robarts on the ailerons.

CG is at about 3.25 and it is perfect, absolutely perfect.
