RE: Pentathlon Build Thread
I guess it is finally time to make good on my promise of doing an more detailed build. Now that there are a handful of kits out there, it's time I got started. I still have a few odd things to finish up this week, but I will be getting started on the build.
Step 1
First, inspect the contents of the kit...make sure everything is there.
Have a look at all the foam parts and make sure there was no shipping damage, etc.
I start by sheeting the foam parts. I prefer to do this for a couple of reasons. The most important, being that the sheeting process can take up a good bit of workspace. Those with a big shop (and/or awesome shop like hanglider) can afford to do this while building on the wood fuse frame....read envy here.
Those that purchase the kit with all of the 1/16" sheeting will need to inpsect the sheeting and begin truing the edges of these sheets. I normally use a long straight edge and a sharp razor. You can also setup a straight edge sanding jig to do the job.
