When your moving its usually a grey blue the important thing is that there is smoke. Problems like your having can go both ways if I was there I could tell you by the sound pretty much. It could even be a very slight leak in the fuel tank or system causing it to lean out when the tank gets low. Does it leak fuel anywhere even when you turn it upside down?
