Default RE: 84"extra 300 & DA 50 muffler

i have an observation on the da50 with the slimline pits and the da stock muffler

based on my plane and parts
the stock muffler is more than 5 ozs lighter than the slimline pits
the stock muffler allowed my da50 to spin 350 more rpms hot !!!!

I thought i had unlimited vertical on my 16.5 pound WH 50cc extra but one of the bolts on the slimline came lose and in the process striped the bolt holes in the da plus broke the mounting bracket. So in the interest of me getting to fly this week i scored my friends stock muffler off one of his planes. I tapped out the bolt holes to use 6mm screws enlarged the holes in the muffler to except the 6mm bolts and mounted it with no problems

The results were the plane is now ridiculously powered compared to last week. the power diff on the up lines is way better, snaps on the up line and back to full speed up line with crisp point rolls and what ever i want to do till the plane is out of site. Even on my badly executed snaps regaining speed on the up line was quick.

I know i have heard that you would get some more rpms on the stock muffler but the rpms that i got are crazy good all the rpms were measured with the same rpm gauge with the same 23a vess prop after a 20 min flight with no cool down so im confident the readings i got were accurate. Needles to say i will not be going back to the slimline pitts.

Edit ps the rpms measured between mufflers were several days apart in about the same temp but i dont know if the humidity was different or not.
