Don't over tighten either! the best thing to do is to tighten with the star pattern first then start her up. Check for smoke or fuel leaks around bottom of head, if so tighten the screw on the side of the leak some more, check for leaks again. Once head is straight and level with no leaks tighten all screws about 1/16-1/8 tighter and thats it. I strippeed out 2 screw holes and had to re-tap with the head turned 90 degrees, not fun.
