I run them with a FOC gear swap and that's it... I can floor my truck and you will never hear it shift. The shoe type shift is so smooth compared to the pawl type in other monster truck 2 speeds. You should be able to accelerate very slowly and hear it. I race on about 5 different tracks and I can only think of one that I would look to add more gearing. All of this is with a LRP Spec III which has more RPM's and power than some other engines.
I've had to spend some time getting used to these MTR with ProLine molded foams (the ones they come with) but wow, I am really liking them now.....
