17mm seems to lose top end speed
I put 17mm adapters and rims on my lst2 Seemed to lose top end speed and it shifted into second almost imediatley. Could the tire and rim size make that much of a difference, is there any gear changes or teath combonations i'm missing?

I run them with a FOC gear swap and that's it... I can floor my truck and you will never hear it shift. The shoe type shift is so smooth compared to the pawl type in other monster truck 2 speeds. You should be able to accelerate very slowly and hear it. I race on about 5 different tracks and I can only think of one that I would look to add more gearing. All of this is with a LRP Spec III which has more RPM's and power than some other engines.
I've had to spend some time getting used to these MTR with ProLine molded foams (the ones they come with) but wow, I am really liking them now.....

I gotta question for ya too, 2D! Why do you have you cooling head on sideways? Did you notice it improves cooling, or did you just want to be different?

The LRP Spec III in the picture is my third that I just broke in. I just removed a screamer that had 7 gallons on it for my hot backup. I still have my very first LRP Spec III, also with 7 gallons.
I place the head so that air passes through it. If you have a LRP head handy, check it out, it will become apparent whey I have the head installed that way.

RE: 17mm seems to lose top end speed
When I first got my Muggy I put my very first LRP Spec III with 5 gallons on it in there. I was assuming it had to be on it's last legs... I ran it 2 more gallons!!
I am playing with lots of negative camber (recently installed RPM) and run heavy swaybars up front. I have also extended my wheelbase slightly by installing the rear shock tower and a-arms backwards... note rear shock position.

Oh yeah I can see now that you tell me, and how does it work do you notice any performance changes, It looks to me that running the rear shocks in that position can make them more vulnerable to get damage in a crash.

That what I thought also, till I ran them like that for the last couple of months... The first time I get hit in the rear and it causes issues I will stop but it has survived a lot so far. I was making changes to help me keep it straight easier.

Those two pictures were taken about 20 minutes apart.
The only thing I have ever had to do with the 2 speed shoes is clean any grease out of the area and pull the shoes apart with my fingers to make sure they separate ok.

I removed the receiver...
I spray WD40 on the tops of my 3x94358 servos...
I spray SimpleGreen on it concentrating on the greasy areas...
I rinse with gentle hose water and then repeat...
I spray WD40 all over it avoiding the brakes...
I use a small screw driver and to clean out the tops of all the hexes underneath..
I use a airhose to blow stubborn dirt off it, shocks and hex screws..
I put it in front of a shop fan for a hour or so..
