You might try richening your mixture by changing the gas/oil ratio. 32:1 is good to break the engine in; once you've done that you can run it at 40:1 with a good synthetic 2-stroke oil (Amsoil or Klotz). I don't think that's your entire problem, though, sounds like the carb does need some attention
