Servo's
I have scorched 5, count them 5 HS-225mg's in my .40 size OMP 540p in 9 months. I have done everything to take as much load off the servo as possible. I use ball links on my surfaces for bind free movement. I do not have long arms on the servo, and the linkage is not on the inside hole of the control horns. Good mechanical advantage. Atv's are 100%. I still smoke the servos. I have lost 4 aileron servos, and 1 rudder servo. I do not do tail touches any more to be easier on my rudder servo. There are times when I might have my ailerons at full deflection for 30 sec in the flight regime under a load. After exchanges with Mike of Hitec, he said the motor is still a mini motor. It might be to much for the servo. I think he is right. You can search the Hitec forum under HS-225mg for the text. Hitec has honored their commitment and rebuilt the servos. But what happens when the year warranty is up? We shall see.
My point is if you are planning on wringing this thing out, you might consider a stronger servo. HS-81's? No way. For tamer flight the 225 would be fine. I am building another OMP 540 p and I am considering the new HS-5245 digitals. Maybe standards in the ailerons.
This is just one man's opinion.
