RE: Someone explain this, please...
I have only just found this thread and since i am the one who bought the Aurora kit and also the wild-7 kit i think i should say my bit. I have always had a passion for classic pattern models and for me the models that have always stood out have been MK! When they were available they were always expensive kits in this country and when i bought my first Aurora 60 it was £200!! that was about 15 ish years ago! Other kits of the same size were of similar price. Quality and performance costs! and if you want it you must pay for it! The quality in materials, accuracy of the cut parts, plans and the thought put into these kits is incredible! The flying qualities are even better. For me having had two previous Aurora 60's it stands out, and all my experiences with them were fantastic! every flight was a joy, such a graceful bird in flight as are its brothers and i think infinitely more attractive than the curare!. . . .beyond words! $500!? . . . bargain! i paid $68 shipping which brought the total to £268 GBP! In my view thats alot of quality for the money. And as for what will happen to it. . . . i found a YS 60 FR in perfect condition on this forum and i also have an Hattori pipe for it, spring airs are also to be fitted. It will be finished to the very highest standard and no expense spared! I feel something is worth what ever you are prepared to pay for it! I do not consider it stupid! they are not available anymore and are sought after items so prices are bound to increase!
As for the wild-7, i had had no previous experience with it but thought it a most attractive model so decided to go for it! and i am very glad i did! kit is every bit as good as the Aurora and it was $100 less. This will be built before the Aurora. Engines, retract systems, pipes and all the MK accessories have been procured for these kits, there will be no corners cut! I am not out to make a profit, i am out to fly! I had sold all of my jet gear as this was geeting very expensive and was lucky i found these. . . .money well spent i say! there is alot of nostalgia mixed in with this and we do this hobby for enjoyment, so why not fly what you enjoy! I fully intend to increase my MK fleet i am hoping to aquire some of the smaler MK kits (Aurora 25/45, Arrow 40 etc) as i the bigger brothers will not be everyday models.
