I have one of the retract ready versions. Ordered yesterday, received today. Not bad at all. Of course, I'm only ~60 miles away from Nitro Models, but I couldn't drive there and back for the $14 they charged to ship (gas is $3.50/gal. here).

In any event, I've only taken a quick look at the plane/instructions. The wings are covered over solid, so I'll have to cut into one to see what all is underneath. From a review of the instructions, the kit is set up for retracts (including plastic wheel wells), but can be converted to fixed gear by adding some supplied gear blocks. It looks like the retract version includes the fixed gear/wheels as well.

It'll be a few days before I can get started on it, then I'll post up some pictures.
