Default RE: Solo'd after five flights!

Although I am not soling yet I had a similar experience last Saturday. I was up for my third flight for the day with my instructor. As I was practicing low approaches my engine shut off. I was perfectly lined up, only about 6 feet off the ground when it happened. I don't think my instructor noticed right away, even I wasn't sure it had shut down. There were two or three other planes in the air at the time so it was hard to tell by sound. As I sat there for the first few second I really though about just saying F*** it I am taking her in. I ended up getting cold feet, and I pointed it out to my instructor who I think noticed by this time too. This all happened in the span of about 5 seconds, but for those few seconds I was ready. Ultimately I am glad I didn't try though. As it was my instructor had to almost fly completely out of the field before it lost enough air speed to set it down. I know for a fact that had I been in control I would most likely have given up elevator too soon, caused it to balloon and stall. Even though I was only a few feet off the ground it probably would have been a catastrophe. Still, I hoping I will get to attempt a landing during my next lesson. I want to solo so bad I can taste it. Mostly I just want the freedom to go flying anytime I want.

Sorry to hijack your thread! Congrats on your first solo flight.
