Default Solo'd after five flights!

Well I solo'd today after my instructor took me up. I was doing tracking the runway really low and at a slow speed so i said, F- it, im gonna land and i did it! Then i took her off on my own and landed again. I have 4 flights on my own now and i cant wait to do it again tomorrow! Happy flying fellas!

blkz2801,
Congrats on the solo flight!!! Now all you have to do is get that silly little grin off of your face!! Awww, don't worry about it. We all have them. Heck, I had one for 3 weeks after I soloed!!!

A solo flight is a great accomplishment and that wins you one genuine RCU ATTABOY (Suitable for framing, wrapping fish, or lining trashcans).

Although I am not soling yet I had a similar experience last Saturday. I was up for my third flight for the day with my instructor. As I was practicing low approaches my engine shut off. I was perfectly lined up, only about 6 feet off the ground when it happened. I don't think my instructor noticed right away, even I wasn't sure it had shut down. There were two or three other planes in the air at the time so it was hard to tell by sound. As I sat there for the first few second I really though about just saying F*** it I am taking her in. I ended up getting cold feet, and I pointed it out to my instructor who I think noticed by this time too. This all happened in the span of about 5 seconds, but for those few seconds I was ready. Ultimately I am glad I didn't try though. As it was my instructor had to almost fly completely out of the field before it lost enough air speed to set it down. I know for a fact that had I been in control I would most likely have given up elevator too soon, caused it to balloon and stall. Even though I was only a few feet off the ground it probably would have been a catastrophe. Still, I hoping I will get to attempt a landing during my next lesson. I want to solo so bad I can taste it. Mostly I just want the freedom to go flying anytime I want.

Sorry to hijack your thread! Congrats on your first solo flight.

Iv'e got 14 flights with my instructor with 8 take-offs and 5 landings. My landings have a lot to be desired as I had 2 not so good landings( Mustang p-51 pts). My instructor told me he usually lets his guys solo after 25 flights IF THEY ARE READY. I'm very happy with the progress I'm making and all the other guys at the club are helping me too. Will I solo after 25 ???? who knows but congrats on your solo progress. Man I LOVE THIS HOBBY!!!!!!

I remember when I was training 10 years ago. Instructors were only available on weekends. Wife was overly happy with this but my argument i recall was that once i solo and get on my own, I can go any time, not just weekends. So, sometimes i go during the weekday but still mostly weekends
