Default RE: YS engine mount

Arobatx...man its OK. You can post this is a forum to help guys out. We all have our opinions. I don't mind a bit with sharing info. Plus it makes it easier on me answering all the time.

Hughes500E,

Yes I think the Hyde mounts are good for your airframe. I use them. I don't like the mounts that don't use a nose ring. the reason is the engine thrust line can change. If the mount is so still that it can't change thrust line then I doubt its doing much besides adding weight to your model. Besides i have seen all the Type A mounts that don't need a nose ring. my opinion is they are better with a nose ring. The nose ring holds that thrust line in place.

Now not all models can accommodate that. I have a Showtime with the new 110S in it. I'm not running a Hydemount or a nose ring...Just the stock plastic beams that come in the kit. Yes I'm abusing the airframe. If it was a competition model that would change and I would put a AR type mount in it with a nose ring. I would have to build something to support the nose...but it would be worth it. As it is now the model is a 3D machine and my fun airplane. Its beater although it flies well and its in great shape its not like my expensive competition models.

So the choice is up to you. I recommend the Hyde mounts they are outstanding. I have been using them for a really long time. My first one was in about 1994. Depends on what the model is worth to you. The Hyde will help save it from vibration. Even the type A with no need for a nose ring is better than hard mounted.

I just look at the $250 Arf as I want it as light as possible and to make it a 3D monster not worry about it living 1000 flights.
