Sorry to burst your bubble Rc,but the first Quadra produced was in fact the 2.0 which i happen to have one of.It came out in 1981 and it is a points driven engine. I'm not saying the engine in the pic is a 2.0 but it very well could be.

If it is, someone removed a riser from the very top of the cylinder head. The "riser" as I call, was used to secure the engine in a chain saw. The Q35 had the riser. Don't know about the 40cc version.
