RE: GP Cap 232
This Cap, like every other Cap I have flown does just fine. One thing you must remember that the low rate throws are very little but it will pull a very tight 90 degree turn with 3/8th inch throws on the elevator. What most people do not understand that if a plane, snaps on elevator application there is something else wrong beyond it being the trait of the plane. Caps have a bad rap because the elevators are so powerful and most people think that the tiny amount of throw is not enough. Trust us, this Cap is a huge puddy tat and will float forever at about 15lbs and below and pull some of the tightest 90 degree turns with 3/8th inch throws on the elevator that you have ever seen. It will tumble well on that throw and if you are good at hovering it will hover as well on that setting.
I have not seen one of these Caps with a gas engine on it that was over 15lbs. Mine is 13.75lbs on a DA50 and will go straight up with NO takeoff roll and I can do snap after snap on the way up as long as I do not let it get into a deep snap.
In fact I did not have my competition plane ready this past weekend so I flew the Cap and did a high scoring respectable 6th on the book low rates and also taking into consideration the wind we had and everyone else flying Extra's and Yaks. Total point spread from first to 9th was less than 1000 points with 3rd through 7th being less than 200 points and that is not having this plane setup properly. (I actually had it all stripped out to use the stuff in my competition plane so I just slapped it back together and got 3 trim flights on it before we started the first round and no mixing was used)
We've said it time and again over in the GP Utlimate thread, GP did well on the preformance series planes, this Cap and the Yak included.
You're gonna love it, I know I do and that is coming from someone that flies Caps a lot.
