my Q? is can i use a pullstart engine with the crank shaft sticking out the back on a starterbox. i conserned about air leaks and stuff.
Put the backplate assembly back on regardless of whether the pullstart works and just pop on a starterbox. Should be sweet. By the way you should be able to get a 12V gell cell from your LHS.
