No pets. I'm away from the house too much; it would be unfair to an animal to leave it cooped up for too long.
Put their butts outside
. Animals lived in the wild with no roof over their head for thousands of years. I have two dogs and two cats, and none of them have ever been in the house. The cats prefer the barn anyway, and the dogs' job is to intimidate anybody snooping around, hard to do from inside. Don't get me wrong, I like dogs and cats, but they have their place, IMO, and it's outside.
Ah, North Carolina, it figures.
