Mags are super reliable moreso than their electronic counterparts but their major drawback is that they add weight. Just converting my G23 from mag to elec ign made it a lb. lighter.

Mag engines if set up correctly just need a bit more effort to start due to the fact that they need a hefty spin to generate a spark. As Sinergy said elec ign do make for real easy starting and smooth running engines.

Of course you have to take special care to avoid radio interference from them, but with the quality systems now available thats' hardly a problem anymore.
