If you're looking at seriously doing 3d, go for a profile. they may look weird to those that have never flown one (I used to despise them - until I flew one) but they are great for 3d and damned near indestructible.

Two of the best I have found to date are:
MoJo (available as an ARF from Billy Hell RC or as a kit from Paul Swany)
OMP Katana
